SPEND THE WEEKEND!

ASHLAND LOGO ChamberAshland, Southern Oregon’s cultural jewel, just four miles from Emigrant Lake Park, offers a plethora of activities, from theater, music, endless dining options, wine tasting and even mountain biking and hiking opportunities.

Riders can make arrangements to camp at Emigrant Lake or explore numerous lodging choices in Ashland.

The Stratford Inn, downtown at 555 Siskiyou Boulevard, is offering our riders a special rate on rooms for July 17 & 18. Prices are $194 plus tax without breakfast and $210 plus tax including breakfast.  Call  541 488-2151 to reserve at the Up & Down rates. Bikes are welcome in the rooms. Amenities include:

  • 2 blocks to downtown, all restaurants & theatres
  • Boulevard Coffee Shop (fresh, local coffee & fare, craft beer & local wines)
  • Free wifi & cable TV in all rooms
  • Indoor heated, saline pool & hot tub
  • Across the street from the Safeway
  • Free parking lot

The Ashland Hill Hotel & Suites , just 3 level miles from Emigrant Lake, is our host hotel this year with special rates for riders (ask for the Up & Down block) on July 19 & 20. Amenities include:

  • Complimentary continental breakfast
  • Free Wifi
  • Outdoor pool and jacuzzi (yes!)
  • Two tennis courts
  • Fitness rooms
  • Bikes for rent (ha, ha)
  • Free parking
  • LUNA Café and bar onsite
  • Shuttle to downtown (fee)
  • Laundry facility (oh yeah)

Another option is The Green Springs Inn, a state-designated bike-friendly business 14 miles from Ashland along the course of the Up & Down.

This year Emigrant Lake Park has reserved 40 tent sites at their Oak Slope Campground for Up & Down riders. We also have 10 reserved RV spaces.  Riders must call Emigrant Lake before June 15 at (541) 774-8183 to reserve these sites.

Don’t miss Lithia Park, a 100-acre jewel along cool, rushing Ashland Creek, designated as one of the top ten Great American Spaces by the American Planning Associaton in 2014.

Also there are numerous lower-intensity bike rides in the area suitable for another day or for family members or guests to enjoy while you are going up and down. Our Bear Creek Greenway extends from Ashland to Central Point and offers level riding as well as connections to towns and amenities along the way.

We recommend that if you are coming from out of town and planning a hotel or B&B stay, theater or music event, reserve early.
